Excited to share with you this one-of-a-kind hand-painted enamel cabochon, vitrified to a single layer after many careful kiln firings.

The reverse has been counter-enamelled and signed and dated by me. As settings go, bezel settings would be the best as they protect the edges. The cabochons are very low in profile (2mm) and need to be set as flat cabochons, which new smiths may find challenging.

Care and setting Instructions:
Unlike many gemstones and many pretty things on earth - vitreous enamel will not fade with time, nor is it affected by sunlight or water. It will look as beautiful today as a millennium from now. It is harder to scratch than most gemstones.

However you should treat it like a soft stone. It can be scratched by accident with grittier wheels. If dropped, the enamel might chip.  After being set and finished, it will be quite strong - but the piece should be cared for the way handmade jewelry is cared for, protecting it from shocks, drops, and chemicals.
