" A damsel with a dulcimer In a vision once I saw: It was an Abyssinian maid, And on her dulcimer she played, Singing of Mount Abora. " - Kubla Khan
Mount Abora to me is that zenith of each artist - the attempt to make the world of the solitary consciousness visible to the Other. Here I reimagined the BMMBX icon of the mountain peak and star, as a reflection of this artistic ideal, and is a daintier version of a larger piece I made for this collection. I paired it with opium-poppy colours as a nod to the provenance of the poem. A gold-leaf star sparkles over the peak, a symbol of hope. The piece has great depth and liveliness.
About the piece
The focal was created in the painstaking ancient technique of cloisonné enamel. After designing the linework, I bend miniscule fine silver wires into the outline designs, which are then filled with thin layers of glass powder, each layer requiring separate kiln firings. The result is a manmade gemstone. It will not fade and will be as beautiful and bright today as it will be a thousand years from now.
For more about this technique, have a look at my IGTV.
The piece is one of a kind and can be finished as a necklace pendant or a ring. If you would like a ring - remember to let me know your ring size at checkout.
