Deep Romantic Strand • Titantium-plated Agate and Ruby Zoisite • Xanadu collection
“But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover! A savage place! as holy and enchanted As e’er beneath a waning moon was haunted By woman wailing for her demon-lover!”
In 1797 the poet Coleridge sat down to write the opium-inspired epic poem Kubla Khan, where in the most melodic way he describes a fantastical fictional pleasure dome in mythical Xanadu. This poem is what inspired my collection Xanadu, with designs envisioned from its rich imagery as well as themes of romanticism and poppies.
Three gemstone strands were created for this collection, inspired by its colours and romanticism. In this one, delightfully-prismatic titanium-plated agate was paired with the flecked green ruby-zoisite to make a very long strand that can be worn at its full length, or doubled over in different ways for a very wearable romantic look.
